Cracow is known as academic city. According to The Main Statistic Institution, there were living 177 thousands of students in 2006/2007 academic year in Cracow. It’s certain that this number is much smaller than in Warsaw, but not only numbers are important, but also atmosphere. There are located 21 universities in Cracow, 9 of them are public, under Ministry of Scholarship jurisdiction, 4 of them are public, but independent of the Ministry and the rest 8 universities are private. The huge number of flocking young people needs accommodation basis. The biggest basis, not only in Cracow, but also in Poland is Campus of AGH University, located on the 16 ha area. The Campus is located between Reymont’s and Nawojka’s Streets. There are also many didactical objects located near the Campus. Campus is very popular and useful, because of its localization (only 15 minutes from the Center).

The Campus had been built between 1964 and 1978 years. This time had been built also
20 objects for students. Campus offers 9000 accommodation places for students from AGH, Pedagogical, Economical and Agriculture Universities. There is also available cultural, sport, recreation and service basis in campus. There are located sport fields, snooker club, tennis courts, fitness club, swimming pool and student clubs in this area. There are located also kindergarten, supermarket, postal office, bank and different trade and gastronomic places. The Campus has its own radio too, called “eXFm”.

Student houses are equipped with Internet, cable tv and telephony systems. Centrals located in particular academic houses allows to telephone free of charge in the area of all Campus, between telephones in system.

AGH Campus, which is the place of living for thousands of students, during summer is known as the biggest accommodation basis in the area of South Malopolska and offers about 4 thousands accommodation places. Between July and September tourists from Poland and abroad can use different offers in very attractive prices.
